Lisa and I went to the swimming hole and we ALMOST DIED! and then my mom bought plane tickets so we can go to Portland OR.

well, maybe that's an exaggeration. We found a float and the current carried us out into the middle! of! the lake! with alligators and snapping turtles! and nobody around even though it was a blazingly hot sunday afternoon. and so we drifted helplessly for a while but eventually found the strength to struggle back to shore. It was actually hard work! my shoulders hurt!

Does sentence #2 have anything to do with sentence #1? Like, would your mom have bought the tickets if you hadn't ALMOST DIED(!)? Just curious.

Portland is lovely. I wish I lived there.
