I have a new bug up my butt....
I just read this article:

http://www.jeffersoninstitute.org/pubs/flax.shtml

And now I want to grow flax! it would be so perfect! I could also have chickens and feed them the seeds and have omega-3 rich eggs, and reuse the chicken poo as fertilizer and it would totally be a fabulously sustainable closed system (note: chickens probably need more than flax seed to eat). And I could make vegan yarn, and it would be way easier than raising sheep.

oh boy!

Yes, but chickens will eat ANYTHING so don't let that stop you!

yes, even boogers (my friend has chickens and a neti pot and shared this charming detail with me) and dead cane toads (I learned that from living in Honduras, which is overrun with chickens and toads); however, I would like to at least pretend I'm giving them a balanced diet!

Hmmm, now you've put a bee in my bonnet as well! i don't have much sunlit space but i could conceivably grow flax in my sideyard... hrm hrm... i couldn't keep chickens, though, wrong zoning. But flaxseed yarn, such potential!

I bet you could! (not that I've ever been to your house or anything). Also, to give you another bee, my bee today is: ANGORA BUNNIES!
